Speaking of Charmed, a big thank-you to everyone who played my little "Fill in the Blank" game from last week. I received a ton of terrifically funny (read: mean) responses, but this one from Cary Babka was the clear winner. "Had Shannen Doherty still been on Charmed, I hear they would have recruited the refrigerator from Requiem for a Dream to play her ripped alter ego." LOL! I would have never thought of that — and I'm a fairly funny guy!

I've heard he'll be back in the finale ep.
But other then that i doubt he will be.
And that "don't blame me i did everything i can" act doesn't fly with me.
If you really want it that bad then he'd let Billie go.
And wouldn't be spending so much on designer clothes.
I think if those were being dropped then no problemo for Brian coming back

Don't know why they need those expencive designer outfits either.
Most stuff i don't even understand why those things are so expencive anyways.
Maybe tis the fabric. Nothin wrong with just good ol plain cotton..lol
And i highly doubt their acting will be worse without the outfits.
Holly can wear a potato bag and still she manages to look awesome

Especially when i read that last bit of 8.10 that brought tears to my eyes.
Something like "phoebe playing with the boys and keeping them happy untill they know their dad is not coming home". That was just so sad. I know it's fiction and all. But still..

To Kern and the WB: WHY WE DON'T WANT A SEASON NINE.

Why we don't want a season 9.

For long time fans, the pain of watching new episodes and reading new spoilers grows with each season and each episode. Needless to say, we still love the show. Not for what it is, but for what it was. What it could become.

For long time fans, Charmed has been on a downfall which has sped up as seasons colided with eachother. We didn't like season five or six when they first aired, but looking back on them now in contast with seasons seven and especially eight, we love them.

For long time fans, Charmed was something we could be proud of. Something that made us laugh, someting that made us cry, something that made us want more. Something that made us feel. In our beloved shows early days we were able to emote and emphasise with the characters. They seemed real, likeable and worthwhile. Each had their own purpose to the show as a whole, each had their good and bad points and when it came down to it - each learned something with every new episode.

The emotional investment put into earlier episodes, earlier characters, earlier themes, earlier writing and earlier atmospheres is what has given Charmed it's death sentance. People argue that the show has evolved and in their minds... maybe. Maybe it has in some ways. It has evolved from a horror/drama that it started out, into more of a dramadey/soap show that deals with constant men problems and the will for a normal "sex and the city" "desperate housewives" like scenario. Emotion is no longer and the first way for viewers to feel for a show is through, for the most part, the characters.

Phoebe was the most likeable when she was introduced. She was cute, she was smart (in her own way), she wanted to help people, she was carefree, selfless and observant. We loved her for it and we wanted to either be her, or be like her. She was the manalonic of TV show idols. Her character, though flawed always had one thing that kept strong until previous seasons. It was her will to do good, and keep doing it. From the time that Phoebe read the spell in the book of shadows that gave the sisters their powers, to the time she was queen of the underworld and still had the desire to protect innocents While evil, to the time she decided she would rather keep saving people then give up her life of Charmed duties to the angel of destiny at the end of season four. It was that part of Phoebe that made her seem true, real and very loveable.

Perhaps one of the most shocking revelations in Charmed happened in "Still charmed and kicking" when Phoebe slammed her half-sister for searching for an innocent. It was blatant mockery to her character. It was a mess. If Phoebe had wanted to save innocents when she was evil, at the expense of her power, her husband and in one way or another, her sisters, why would she suddenly want to stop? From there Phoebe became the most selfish of all of the sisters and our hate for her blossomed as we saw her falls for whatwashisname#977. From that moment in the series, Phoebe's premonitions became self centered. All she cared about was her child, which would actually be quite cute if she wasn't written like a selfish brat who was consumed with it. Once dex leaves her, she then in turn gives up on men and in the process, her powers. Suddenly, a magical virus begins to spread and when she is called upon to get a vision that can save many people, she doesn't. Why? Because she didn't look pregnant. Because nothing in this show is right. And everything is a mess. They managed, in nine episodes to turn a perfectly likeable character into a whining mean person who couldn't give two monkeys about anyone except herself.

It was always hinted, but with the loss of Leo and the birth of season eight it's official that the writers actually hate Piper. They hate her the most and will never make her happy. One of my friends who is just a casual viewer of Charmed noted after I showed him Vaya Con Leos that he is frustrated that Piper is "never happy" and that struck me as really weird. Something I knew but never noticed fully. Piper is actually never happy, at all - for more then a few episodes at most. Her character is given the "heavy" because in the writers eyes, Holly has the least sex appeal. Phoebe gets her men, Paige gets her magic related sub plots but what does Piper get? More and more grief. Fans love Piper the most, we are able to emphasise with her even to this day, however now that Leo's gone we really see nothing they can do with her character. Ever since she was introduced, even before she got her powers in the first episode, her and Leo had a special connection. It was that special connection that denoted mostly all of Piper's behaviour and decisions. She decided to stop seeing Dan for Leo, she decided to break the rules to marry Leo, she decided to have two children because she loved Leo so much, she was the reason Leo became a mortal. Piper has always "been" with Leo, throughout Charmed and now that he has gone, she will be empty. Empty and a mess. Just like this show.

Paige, on the other hand is not as obtuseively alienated by viewers. The thing is that, nothing is really happening with her. Sure, she is a whitelighter but with season eight actually letting her have charges, long time fans could see plot-holes in there. In season three, when whiteligher Natalie was introduced to the charmed ones we learned a lot about being a whitelighter. They had their own language, they had their own "staff" meetings to discuss what was going on with charges, they had their formal robes, among other duties and privelages. Paige however, just seemed to be allowed whiteligher just like "that", with the elders giving her random charges. It was always assumed that whitelighters were supposed to have permanent charges that they were to form a relationship with. This isn't the case with Paige at all. Not anymore, nor do any rules apply to her if she wants to do other things.

With all of the characters in this show deteriorating in some ways more then others, fans should ask the question "do we want a season nine". The majority of us have already decided that enough is enough, though there are some that want to see more. But what more is there possibly to see? Charmed is getting repetitive and cannot be changed, because it has been irreperable for some time now.

The "elders" were thought upon as the holy ones, the ones who ruled all good beings, had the power and the wiseness to decide the fate of good. They were portrayed and always hinted as very powerful beings. Season seven not only undid that, but also hinted that the elders were evil. Something that helped ensure this shows downfall. Elders of good should not have the power to electrocute people for starters, nor should Elders try and kill fellow Elders just because of their beliefs. The elders should have been there for the sisters during their battle with Zankou but instead chose to season themselves off. For what reason? We don't know, becuase nobody on this show can be bothered, and neither can we.

Gone are the days we remember the sisters aspirations, dreams to fit in with the world around them. We knew that they wanted to and they knew that it would never work out even if they tried. Season eight proved it yet again that being witches is their duty and not something they can just choose to drop whenever they feel like it. Only this time it took a whole five episodes for them to finally figure out, and by then Charmed had introduced us to this new "cool" and "awseome", extremely annoying and extremely thingyy witch to "take over", which brings me to one of the more important points.

The thing about the title "Charmed" is that it's flexible. Flexibile in the way that this show doesn't have to always be about the sisters. They were charmed by their warren line, and to long time fans it should be obvious that this show is more or less about the warren line then the sisters. However, the word "Charmed" doesn't mean that completely unrelated characters can jump ship and wreck havoc to the original basis and foreground of the show. Billie was introduced for no good reason and could have been a guest star in some episodes. However, it seems that as episodes go by she is in more and more scenes and is becomming more and more annoying.

Some fans didn't mind her when she first appeared. Even though her entrance was cheesy, derived from the popularity of buffy and completely and outrightly wrong. Things got worse from there. She became a more authoritive character around episode six of the series and for 2006 it will only get worse. Now the sisters are on the sidelines and it's all Billie. A whole episode will be dedicated to her family, another to her "new power" and the next episode to "her sister". Charmed is slowly caving in as "Billied" comes to mind. Long time fans wonder what this character is doing here while the little boys youknowwhat to this new "hot" witch. That's all she is. A hot witch which has been given a similar plot to something we've seen two seasons ago.

This has gone on way too long and i'm going to finish right now really quickly.

Thanks but no thanks, we will all pass on season nine.

I don't agree with alot what he'she wrote.
I absolutely love s5 and s6 as i do 7.

It annoys me that some can complain about it so much yet they keep watching.
Either quit watching or focus on the things you do like.

I think it is pretty clear that i don't like Billie. But i am not letting her pressence ruin the show for me. I do agree that it has lost it's original concept because of them bringing in billie. But i think that the WB is more to blame for that then Brad is.

I blame billie again. Because with her trying to be super witch..phoebe's character has nothing to do now. Because of what they make billie do cuz they could've let phoebe do that. Okay..i understand that alyssa doesn't feel like doing those ass kicking scenes anymore..well..not as much. But still..
They need to give the whole baby thing/hubby thing a rest. Like i said b4. She was heading back to school. Dig deeper into those story lines. I do agree about the premenitions. When was the last time she had a premenition for her actual charmed work?

I agree on Piper. No wonder the poor woman has a thing about being afraid that when she's happy that her world will crash again. Her track record shows that's true. And i think the writers know Holly's pretty dang good at those sad scenes. But..need leo back..it's just too crual.

Not agreeing on Paige either. She was born a whitelighter. I do agree about the whitelighter background. They've forgotten the original whitelighter concept. And she can orb ppl like Leo did when he became an elder and that's an elder power. They explained that in OMG2. But she went from a newby to a witch..to witch/whitelighter..to teaching at magic school..to teaching billie. So you can;t say that nothing's happening with her..

Partially agree on the elders thing. It wasn't wise to have that one elder to try and push leo in the elder direction in ep 7.16. But hey..it started with Gideon in s6 when he took things in his own hands and tried to kill wyatt. So atleast get the info straight. Also goes for them butting out at the season finale. Cuz it's also what they did in s3 when the girls were exposed. They told all whitelighters to go up because they didn't want to expose them selves. They didn't interfere in with the zankou issue due to the risk. And come on. If the elders would've helped em out..then that season finale..it would've been dead boring and y'all would've complained about that

So in other words..i find that email a pile of crap and it annoys me that he or she is talking on behalf of all fans. Because many do not agree. And can't even be sure about holly signing for another season because there hasnt anything official come out yet.

Phoebe focusing too much on hubby/baby and Charmed having changed and all... Billie being way too much in the picture.. Yes.. but give them some credit.. Don't just diss...
